UPPER CANADA

Causes:
-Clergy reserves (land set aside for Protistant schools and churches) & the Crown Reserves (land set aside for the Government).
-Bad Roads were a conflict because no one would fix them.
-Want responsible government.
-
Who Was Involved: -William Lyon Mackenzie was the leader of the Radicals.

-The Radicals were fighting against the British Government.


Outcomes: -Mackenzie led 800 men into battle with pitchforks. "Melt our spoons into bullets"
-The people turned against the government.
-These people were called the radicals.


LOWER CANADA

Causes:
-92 resolutions were ignored.
-They wanted a Responsible Government.
-Felt culture was under attack.



Who Was Involved: -Louis Joseph Papineau was the leader of Parti Canadien. He also supported the rebellions.

Outcomes: -Lasted from November 23/1837 @ St.Davis until December 14/1837 @ St.Eustache.
-Rebels won.
-Papineau fled when he was threatened with arrest.
-Wolfred Nelson became the new leader.
-Martial Law was enforced.
-British Govenor wanted to charge the Patriotes with treason.
